My sister's. Plain, cheap and a little too big, but with a blank canvas comes versatility.

YES. I've finished part 2 of my diet, and therefore I'm back to normal eating. I can't really say I've noticed a difference in weight, but then that's not the reason I did it, so I'm happy enough. Can't see an improvement in my skin either, but then that wasn't promised so no disappointments there. What I am impressed with though, is my will power. I seriously didn't think I'd manage to stick to the scheme, but surprisingly, I did! I'm also pleased with what I've learnt cooking-wise. Every meal featured in this post is home-made! All that I've actually missed is the freedom that eating normally is for me.
So apologies if you're not a major foodie like me, but I'm including a lot of photos of food which, quite frankly, I still get seriously excited just looking at. If you're curious, here's the diet I followed - and if you try it and get past the first day, kudos.

Steamed vegetables (broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, celery and spinach) on brown rice.

Stewed apples covered in cinnamon on brown rice
Raw vegetable salad with watercress, garlic, walnuts and a peanut oil dressing
Jacket potato topped with steamed spinach, garlic, nutmeg and olive oil

Fruit salad (apples, kiwis, grapes, raspberries and blueberries)
Spinach and carrot salad
Jacket potato topped with green beans and watercress

Blueberry and apple smoothie (recipe linked at top of page)

And what would a diet be without a celebratory slap-up meal the day after? Eating this probably undid all the work from the previous week, but who cares, it was damn tasty.
Spinach and cottage cheese quiche, and mint potato salad
Scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, and chocolate cake
Finished off by an ice cold glass of Fosters and a wedge of lemon... job well done

Felt it was neccessary to 'cleanse the system' after being incredibly lazy for the past few weeks - both with exercise and eating. So, when I found a detox diet on the internet I was eager to start straight away. One large grocery shop later, I was ready to sort out my insides (can't review it quite yet because its a 7-day diet & I'm only 3 days into it). I've really enjoyed preparing every meal and paying close attention to how I cook things and what I'm actually putting in my mouth. Fingers crossed it pays off - day 1 consisted of yoghurt, tea and water only, so I'd better see some reward for my misery!

Baked potato with a mascarpone, crème fraîche (both low fat... conscience still clean), mint and garlic topping on a spinach salad

Raspberries and blueberries in natural yoghurt

Steamed vegetables (broccoli, carrots, peas and beans) and a spinach salad

My favourite herbal tea - Twinings raspberry & echinacea

No reason as to why I've included this particular song in this post - I just love John Mayer!

Just a few random things I've bought recently that I'm most definitely loving. By the way, I will be bombarding upcoming posts with Asteroids Galaxy Tour songs. Seriously loving them this summer.

I bought some latte glasses because, although I'm not a coffee drinker (I can hear gasping already), I just love the shape of them, so I figured I could tidy up my make-up drawer and utilise the glass this way. I can't bring to mind what the name of the store is where I got the glasses from - it's only a small one off shop - but I just love it in there. Everything is gorgeous and cosy and relaxing.

I headed into Topshop and picked up a few basic tank tops. I love Topshop vests, especially this loose scoop neck style, because they stay so soft after however many washes.

Went to Boots a week or two ago and got the full sized Clinique Even Better foundation after trying a sample - I have problems with hyperpigmentation, so I absolutely love this stuff. And surprisingly, it's not too heavy for summer weather. I also acquired this Dove Intensive Repair conditoner. I'm not too familiar with Dove hair care products, and hair damage isn't a major problem for me, however when applied to the ends of my hair I've noticed that they seem less scraggly.

I picked this candle up in the same shop as the latte glasses. Haven't burned it yet but the pomegranate scent is just beautiful. In fact, the entire shop smells amazing. I think the name 'temptations' is extremely fitting.

Friday 15 July 2011

Today was one of those days where you don't want to do anything, just doze off way past the afternoon. But it was this evening where I really appreciated the sun - the exaggerated but intricate shadows cast across the garden were enough to keep me occupied for a good hour or so. The heat was lovely too. Warm with a very faint breeze, which meant the perfect opportunity to throw on my new favourite shorts (Fairtrade, might I add - credit to Topshop) & my lightweight dusty grey-brown-pink shirt. Fully equipped with my aviators and loafers, I headed out to dinner, which was delicious.

I wasn't even going to post this tonight and was going to get in a good sleep instead, but I found myself surfing the internet for so long that I was past the tired stage, so why not? Started going crazy as well after hearing a song on the TV that I knew but couldn't remember what it was, so I found it (thank you YouTube) and now it's been on repeat for a good 10 minutes. The tune is so perky and happy, which summed up today for me, so I figured it ought to feature in this post. Apologies for rambling!
Hope everyone has had a happy Thursday (they're pretty rare).

Wednesday 13 July 2011

Not particularly sunny, but definitely warm. Well, warm enough for denim hot pants and beachy necklaces. Taking it easy by meeting with friends, catching up on sorely missed TV and generally relishing in the fact that I have no reason to get up any earlier than lunchtime.

And relax. Now for the next few months all I have is time, which is such a relief. Had a semi-formal occasion on Wednesday which gave me an excuse to replenish my wardrobe with some new pieces suitable for summer events (-though it ended up raining). Here's some shots of my accessories - will most likely post a photo of my dress at some point too.

Saturday 2 July 2011

It's been such a hectic week once again. Went up to Liverpool to sort out passport on tuesday, back home for tuesday night, went to France the morning after. So apologies for poor updates, but schedule will be back to normal by Thursday... and then its time to relax - finally. Here are a few photos from the very brief trip to France. I was kept company by Vanessa Paradis and Lily Allen in Vogue & Elle (who both look beautiful in their spreads), and luckily I caught a bit of Wimbledon.
